Whilst perusing the streets of Beijing today, I came across the catalogue for Demeter Fragrances. They sell fragrances which smell of common things, such as trees and grass to tobacco, gin and tonic and holy water. Some of them do smell remarkably the same, some dont, but its a good way to spend 20 minutes.

Anyway, I picked up their catalogue today, very minimalist and ‘Asian’. It reads from back to front (spine on the right) in some good matt stockĀ and opens with a lovely cloud graphic and some simple text.

Large page number graphic elements form the header, with stark but revealing images inside, and basic text.

Large typographic elements appear later on.

It goes a bit Chinese ‘I own a food blog and must take a picture of all things I consume’ in the middle.

And ends with a photo and email details on the rear.

A safe design in my opinion, but its nice to see it not on glossy paper, with dodgy photoshop and shouting about the prices with horrid stock photos.
