Shanghai designer Bian has designed the visual identity for THETHING, a popular clothing brand in China. In preparation for Shanghai Fashion Week which begins tomorrow, a strong visual identity and brand was needed.
Shanghai Fashion Week is back from the 15th – 23rd October 2014. Varied international and local brands will be showcasing their 2015 collections. Helen Lee, The Thing and Dong Liang are all local brands to keep an eye out for.

KNEON Magazine will be teaming up with Yetang’s 50 Chinese independent designers, and graphic designer Nick Wu, to curate a space filled with the work of upcoming Chinese and international artists and designers during Beijing Design Week 2014.
TICT is back this weekend in Shanghai, to present the 5th edition of the popular Design, Art and Fashion Fair.
DAFF is Shanghai’s biggest biannual lifestyle community event aimed at giving China’s creative leaders and rising talent a platform to interact, share ideas, and promote new projects. Beijing based Yang and Amy Studio, is a collaboration between Amy Rock Ju and artist Yanghongxun. Between them, they curate and design shows, exhibitions and publish projects. The work is superbly thought out, and leads to a very strong finished product, evidence of which can be seen in their projects below. They have worked with Adidas and young up and coming fashion designers from China.
Jewellery designer Juanjuan Hu was featured on Design China only a few months back. We were so impressed by her designs, however, that we caught up with her more recently to uncover more details about her practice, current projects, as well as her journey to date.
UT Labs was founded by Token Hu, a native of Anhui province who moved to Shanghai and worked for Frog Design. Whilst there, his colleagues encouraged him to experiment with new materials, and the LIGHT WING shoes were born. LIGHT WING shoes are made from Tyvek paper, and weigh less than 150g per shoe.
The brains behind six of Shanghai’s best-known fashion blogs will discuss their experiences with online fashion writing. Speakers include founders of popular blogs like Shanghai Style File, Shanghai Style and Shanghaifashionbloggers — with Q&A session for each presenter.
