Its good to see strong graphic elements creeping into interior design now. Shame the interior design is a bit bland, and not particularly distinctive.
Ceiling tiles…! The curse of the celing tile has affected this design too, why not try to do something different? Perhaps it was at the clients request…
The issue here is that from what I observe as an outsider/laowai/westerner, and what I think as bad, usually means the complete opposite in China. Often the default for a lot of design is shiny, flashy, mirrors, reflections, new and not dirty. And cheap – normally. Durability is not usually an issue, every 2 or 3 years, this place will probably go through a refit.
But its great to see traditional chinese iconography make its way in a contemporary manner into a mainstream restuarant chain.
